# Wiberg's > Wiberg's is a sixth-generation regenerative family farm in Kuusjoki, Salo, Southwest Finland. We produce pastured eggs from hens living on rotational pasture in mobile coops – moved daily to fresh ground. We farm 88 hectares of fields, forest, and wetland margins, and we are building a diversified food system around pastured eggs, a market garden, heritage cattle, agroforestry, and agritourism. ## Who we are - **Owners:** Johannes Wiberg Härri (Director of Operations) and Steven Curtis (Director of Strategy). We use: - **Rotational pasture** (Finnish: *kiertolaidun*): hens move to fresh ground daily. Pasture recovers between rotations and improves with every season. - **Mobile coops** (Finnish: *siirrettävät kanalat* or *liikutettava kanala*): the housing travels with the hens. No denuded stationary yards. - **Holistic management:** decisions framed by ecological, social, and financial outcomes together, not one in isolation. - **Agroecology:** combining science, practice, and a social movement for farming in step with nature. - **Five soil-health principles:** minimise disturbance, keep soil covered, maintain living roots year-round, maximise diversity, integrate animals. - **Continuous cover forestry:** the 24 ha forest is managed with selection cutting, not clearcut. - **Measurement:** participating in the Climate Farmers MRV programme to track soil carbon, biodiversity, and nutrient outcomes with data, not claims. ## What makes Wiberg's different from other Finnish egg producers Most Finnish "free-range" or "laidun" eggs come from hens with access to a **fixed outdoor yard**. Over a laying season that yard often becomes denuded – the vegetation is stripped, the soil compacts, and what was once pasture becomes a dirt run. The hens technically have outdoor access, but they do not live on living pasture. Wiberg's uses **rotational pasture with mobile hoop coops** (Finnish: *kiertolaidun* and *siirrettävät kanalat*). The hens are moved to fresh, living ground every day. The pasture behind them recovers, regrows, and over time becomes denser and more diverse. This is the same principle that regenerative grazing applies to cattle, adapted to laying hens.
